“Would Jesus Think That?”

It is said that an average person has around 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day. That’s a mind boggling number and at the end of the day, you don’t even remember most of them. They flash in and zoom out. Now, the question is, how many of those thoughts do you entertain? What kind of thoughts would you feed and rethink about in your mind?

It’s easy to justify. We’re human. Everyone does it. It’s not like I’m hurting anyone. It’s just a thought, no one will ever come to know about it. But that is where we are wrong, other people may not be able to identify your thoughts, but unintentionally, you’re giving the devil a leeway into your mind. You’ve just spread out a huge buffet of disgusting thoughts for the devil to come and consume.

Sometimes, the biggest battles are not physical, they are wars of the mind. Whenever my mind is idle for a few minutes, a million thoughts speed into my head. And they are from various genres, truth be told, the ones we revisit are often not the best things to say out loud. If people around us could hear what we were thinking, we would be a horrible example of a Christian.

In Philippians 4:8, Paul reprimands the church and says, “ Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.” Easier said than done, yes. But the candour of the matter is that the kind of thoughts you think about shows what kind of a person you really are. If you encourage trashy, polluted ones, you are eventually going to justify it and maybe, be open to doing it. The Bible gives us a clear structure and God wants us to flinch at the very idea of a dishonorable thought when it crosses our mind. In other words, If Jesus lives in us, we would want to keep our mind clean for him to dwell. A pure person will not live in a dirty hole, so it is really a question of restraint and priority. Don’t be fooled, this is one of the hardest things that you will ever have to do. But rest assured, the more you try to clear up the clutter in your head, the more Jesus is smiling from above.

It’s simple. Ask yourself this question. “Would Jesus Think That?”

Have a wonderful week ahead, my lovelies J
